I read this over the course of a single evening. (Pausing to watch the Olympics). Great blending of genres. Captivating look into the future with a spanking angle. Great plot twist that you will have to read for yourself. Excellent book by the uber-talented Loki Renard. Five Red Hot Stars on this one.

Wow. Tara Tanner, an innocent citizen in a regulated society with dreams of becoming a part of the powers in control, finds herself suddenly attacked and enslaved. Tara must do everything her trainer/conditioner orders her to do in exactly the way she is told. This is part of her conditioning to obey without question or thought. Her trainer, Dr. Mark Kilroy is the master trainer of the resistance and he is very good at what he does.
Mark is known as The Marquis of Mayhem for his brutally exacting process of conditioning his trainees, and uses sex to drive their will to obey and to control them with denial of what they desire if that is what’s needed at any given time. Tara must be trained in order for her to survive the direction she must go in, to live after her disastrous abduction. I can’t really say too much as the latter part of the story has a surprise in store for us that you won’t even see coming.
I definitely enjoyed the interaction between Tara and Mark, it was erotic and terrifying at times but kept the sexy, hot experiences coming.

On starting the novel, I was pleasantly surprised by the dystopian setting. It was a great choice and it was a realistic vision of the future. The story offered other shockers with a mind-blowing twist. I won’t say what that was but it was a big one! The author knocked me over with the metaphoric feather with the twist. It had some solid characters. Especially well fleshed was the dominant, Mark. I love that he was conflicted about what he had to do. The novel was very arousing and the sex scenes weren’t overdone. The author took care with the ideas behind the narrative and character development. Where the story needs improvement is its brevity. The story was interesting and I’d hoped for more interaction between the characters and the dismal landscape surrounding the story. I hope that this one story is not all there is for these characters. They were a fun pair. Broken By Him proved to be a delightful and gripping read. The story has much potential to become more than a romance story but a strong science fiction series as well.
